Sardar Udham, which stars Vicky Kaushal in the titular role, tells the story of freedom fighter Udham Singh, who assassinated Michael O’Dwyer in 1940 to avenge the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The film was both critically acclaimed and a fan favourite owing to its raw storytelling and Vicky’s stellar performance.
Interestingly, Vicky Kaushal also lent his voice to Kesari Chapter 2. However, the filmmaker clarified that it was not linked to any Sardar Udham association. He explained, “Vicky’s voiceover appears right at the beginning and sets the tone for the entire narrative. We didn’t approach him due to Sardar Udham, but because I genuinely admire his talent and the gravity he brings to his performances. His voice alone adds such weight to the film.”
